A musical tale of border region conflict and reunion. Two children leads us into a magical universe where trees carry the connection between the past and the present, where friendships are broken by wars but rediscovered in peace. Inspired by Søren Ulrik Thomsen's poem "The trees do not grow into the sky", the film thematizes emotions by embracing South Jutland's (Denmark) violent history, and the belief in peaceful coexistence and reconciliation across borders, nationalities and histories.
