The cat in the hat ends up in the small town of Stackeln an der Kruke instead of Hamburg. The resolute cat doesn't hesitate for long, looks for a suitable place to stay and opens a boarding house at No. 17 Backpflaumenallee. But as if a crocheting cat in a hat wasn't strange enough, the lady gathers a number of stranded eccentrics and orphans around her, much to the chagrin of her landlord: Baby Hübner the pig, the baguette chicken, Knaak the dog, who claims to have gone to sea as a captain, the sleepy llama and the light-shy centipede. Many an adventure awaits the colorful household.
