It tells the story of the relationship between a 9-year-old boy, Dian, and his grandmother, Mak Ainun. Dian is handed over to Mak Ainun after his parents are sentenced to death by hanging due to their involvement with drugs. Dian seeks affection from his grandmother, but Mak Ainun treats him coldly. One night, while they are weaving ketupat, they are attacked by robbers. Dian struggles with the robber and dies in Mak Ainun's arms.
