Nek Mah lives alone in the village accompanied by her beloved cat Mingki after her daughter, Maznah marries Rahman. Maznah's attitude changes increasingly since her marriage. Her neighbour, Mak Teh often visits and asks about Nek Mah's well-being. Nek Mah shares all her problems with Mingki and Mak Teh. One day Nek is sad when Mingki dies after she finishes her dawn prayers. Since then Nek Mah becomes withdrawn as if she has lost her daughter before. Rahman feels sorry seeing Nek Mah's condition, and gives her a new cat as a gift, and Nek Mah names the new cat Mingki as well. However, her daughter Maznah is unhappy with what Rahman did because Rahman's compensation money is not much and she thinks there is no need to buy something that is not useful.
