When Fortune Comes Ashore

DirectorHuang Chao-liang

DramaComedy

Jinhai, a declining seaside town burdened with a NT$ 900 million deficit, has long seen residents hopeless for their future. One day, Wu Li-shih, a spirit medium at the Zhenhai Temple, falls into a trance and proclaims Prince Nezha‘s prophecy: “Fortune is coming ashore!” Instantly, the entire town plunges into a lottery frenzy. Lottery shops overflow, pilgrims flood in, and the media reports frantically. Just as the town mayor’s father begins to question this ridiculous farce, a live-streamed divination ritual yields consecutive divine affirmations. With the greatest shock being the nine consecutive divine blocks symbolizing the “900 million,” thrown by Mai An-na, a washed-up singer. This seemingly absurd miracle unexpectedly inspires the people to be hopeful for the future once again.
