Husin and Hasan were given early exposure to learning the Quran since childhood because their father hoped his children would become the best Qaris. However, their father Munir's somewhat harsh teaching methods caused both of them to rebel. Munir wanted to see his sons win Quran recitation competitions. Their lives were filled with the Quran, but Munir's intentions were feared to be only about showing off his children's abilities to society rather than for the sake of Allah. Misfortune befalls the family when Munir's wife dies from illness, and this begins to make life increasingly difficult for both of his sons.
