The story follows Duan, a traditional Kelantan Mak Yong artist and performer who possesses two distinct personalities. He is passionate about traditional art but is also quick to fight. His story begins after Duan gets into a fight with a Mak Yong audience member who disrupts his performance, leading his father to ask him to leave the village and find other work. His friend Awi, who lives in Kuala Lumpur, invites Duan to the capital city. Awi tells him that Kuala Lumpur offers greater opportunities in the arts field, including Mak Yong. Awi is an arts worker who seeks to bring Kelantan arts to a wider and more advanced level. Additionally, Duan's task is to help Nancy, the daughter of Jimmy Ang, a man of Chinese descent from Kelantan, which brings conflict into Duan's life.
