Ramiro Vargas (a Peruvian national) with ties to drug trafficking and corrupt Mexican government officials has escaped and returned to Peru. The Peruvian government has stated it will take action and has asked Mexico not to interfere in the pursuit. Mexico demands his safe return because he must appear before a judge to testify and serve as a witness in the trial of other criminals. Mexico sends two undercover agents to support Peruvian detectives. This is all done "unofficially." The couple arrives in Peru pretending to be newlyweds enjoying their honeymoon. The Mexicans introduce themselves to the Peruvian detectives and explain that they are only there to observe and provide support from a distance, without interfering in the investigation. When the Mexican detective is kidnapped and used as a bargaining chip to try to save the fugitive, the Mexican detective has no choice but to join the hunt for the fugitive to rescue his partner.
