In the late Joseon period, Kim Myeong Jin, the son of an affluent family near the Miryang area, gets engaged to A-rang. But before their wedding day, A-rang is murdered and her body is nowhere to be found. In grief, Myeong Jin sells everything he owns and begins traveling to Seoul but loses his entire fortune to bandits on the way. He decides to throw himself off a cliff but then discovers a stranger about to hang himself on a pine tree and saves his life. The stranger, Oh Gap-dong, had decided to kill himself after squandering his family's fortune and experiencing his wife's passing. The two men comfort one another and go their separate ways. Little do they know that their paths will cross once more when the ghost of A-rang appears and together they help her seek retribution for her death. Only around 4 minutes of this film still remains today as the rest is currently lost.
