
Mansai centers around the lives of the simple people of the Rajbangshi community of West Bengal. The main character of the story is Mano. As Mano's marriage age passed, she became a laughing stock to the neighbours. poor father made many attempts to characterise the daughter marriage in a good family. The local ferry merchant Gyanda, humiliating her in many ways. As a result, their livelihood was cut off by stealing of Haren’s boat. Gaynda tries to break up the marriage of Mano, he threatens to kill her future groom. Mano leaves the house with Gaynda to save her weary father and his own family. The current of the river Mansai flows uninterruptedly like flowing life and at the end she realises that to protect herself respect it is much better to sacrifice her life at river of Mansai.
