The plot of the film reveals a typical situation during Soviet stagnation. An old man and war veteran who is respected in the village prepares to pass onto another world and is making a coffin for himself. No one cares about him in the village, but there is they care about Luis Corvalan, who lives far across the ocean. By order of the Communist Party, the villagers hold a rally for the release of Luis Corvalan.
