When a smart and beautiful young interior designer by the name of Nora takes a job at a hostel in a sleepy hill town, famous for its picturesque landscape and hiking routes, she can't begin to imagine what weird and dreadful experiences await her. A city girl, she does not fit in and begins to have odd waking dreams, but she finds solace in the young caretaker, Nok Kwine, who has a captivating presence and lets her in on some of the secrets of the hill people. At first, she is appalled to be a bystander to a series of gruesome, unexplained deaths. Then, however, she is drawn deeper and deeper into the center of the mystery. The man at the helm of the investigation is Kyaw, and the leads he follows bring him deep into a labyrinthine, Golden Triangle world of tourism, drug smuggling, land disputes, clan rivalries, and pagan rituals.
