The Art of Fly Fishing: Volume One - Rivers of the British Isles is a fly fishing simulation. After deciding between the three available locations (The Test, River Spey and Blackwater), the player has to choose a place to fish (an overhead map helps with the choice because it shows information of fish locations and traps). Then follows casting (clicking the mouse three times in the correct rhythm similar to the three-click system of golf simulations) and waiting for a fish to bite. As soon as this happens, the next step is to initiate a strike (by clicking with the right timing) and land the fish by applying and releasing line tension. The player has a choice between different rod, line and bait. There is also an in-game encyclopedia about fly fishing.
